Pivot Point Consulting, a Best in KLAS healthcare IT consulting company, recently announced a partnership with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Dragon Copilot to rural hospitals nationwide.
Through this collaboration, rural clinicians gain access to AI capabilities — such as ambient clinical listening, automated documentation, and real‑time visit summarization. As part of the program, Microsoft is offering a 60 percent discount off MSRP to independent Critical Access Hospitals, independent Rural Emergency Hospitals, and independent Rural Community Hospitals.
Artificial intelligence technologies are advancing the ability to conduct proactive screening to catch the warning signs of serious health conditions, like heart disease. With earlier detection of cardiovascular risk, clinical teams can intervene sooner to improve patients’ long-term health. The use of a coronary artery calcium (CAC) detection algorithm has helped flag patients with incidental CAC and initiate referrals to cardiology. CMS has now established Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code G0680 for the detection and quantification of coronary artery calcium and/or aortic valve calcification using AI-based algorithmic analysis of chest CT scans for insurance claims.
Visa renewals are processing again, but health systems and international physicians still have no clear path forward. In late April, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services updated its website to indicate physicians were no longer subject to a visa processing hold. The freeze stemmed from a federal policy implemented in December that paused decisions on visa extensions, work permits and green cards for citizens of 39 countries. This subjected more than 10,000 physician H-1B visa holders and 17,000 with J-1s — along with thousands of nurses, lab techs and other healthcare workers — to the visa pause. Many affected physicians were put on administrative leave by hospitals while awaiting their renewal.
Enhancing Hospital Cyber Resilience: The New CRR Program by Joint Commission and AHA

This initiative aims to help hospitals and health systems maintain safe clinical operations during cyber-related technology disruptions. In a press release on May 4, Joint Commission stated that “CRR focuses squarely on clinical continuity, ensuring that patient care can continue safely and effectively even when mission-critical technologies are unavailable.”
