Last week, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) announced the launch of the Center for Mobile Health, a resource hub dedicated to expanding access to care through mobile health programs and policy initiatives. In a news release, the MD-based healthcare advocacy organization stated that the Center for Mobile Health will gather leading mobile health experts to support the 674 (45 percent) Community Health Centers (CHCs) that operate at least one mobile unit and to increase the number of CHCs using mobile units to reach populations with limited access to healthcare.
A growing number of primary care practices are joining independent physician associations as a way to gain leverage in contract negotiations with insurers and avoid merging with large health systems, according to a Feb. 16 KFF Health News report. The shift comes as physician employment continues to climb nationwide. Nearly 80% of U.S. physicians are now employed by hospitals, health systems or corporate entities, according to a 2024 Avalere analysis.
The Medicare ACCESS model will reach 165 million more Americans in other payer markets by 2028, according to an announcement by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Thursday. While the initial ACCESS model would allow Medicare beneficiaries to benefit from health technology for the treatment and management of chronic conditions, other healthcare payers have now signed on to a pledge that would expand the model to the Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and commercial markets.
CMS’ Roadmap for Switching to FHIR-Based Digital Quality Measures
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is moving steadily toward the use of FHIR-based digital quality measures (dQMs). CMS believes dQMs will enable a more dynamic, interoperable, and comprehensive approach to quality measurement than the electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) currently in use.
