Telehealth represented less than 1% of the total health care volume in the United States prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more than half of physicians used telehealth for the first time in the pandemic’s first few months.  Subsequent research shows physicians have overwhelmingly responded positively to its implementation.

Global Digital Health Funding Skyrockets to $57.2 Billion 

Digital health investment around the world hit an all-time high of $57.2 billion in funding in 2021, fueled by the growing need to provide digital solutions and delivery models to patients during the pandemic.

The funding is intended to improve the retention of health care workers and help respond to the nation’s critical staffing needs by reducing burnout and promoting mental health and wellness among the health care workforce. 

Interoperability Not Guaranteed Between Hospitals Using Same EHR

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association found that hospitals using the same EHR vendor were found to be more interoperable than hospitals that did not use the same vendor, but interoperability is never guaranteed.
