Healthcare CIOs are increasingly looking to cloud storage as physical data centers age and resources shrink, but not all providers and payers are moving at the same pace. A new report by IDC Health Insights can help providers and payers optimize their use of the cloud by offering guidance on developing a cloud strategy that can drive higher return from investments.

For patients with multiple chronic conditions, improving care will be a bipartisan effort

The bipartisan Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 reformed Medicare's payment system to better link payment to quality, as well as incentivize participation in models of care outside of the traditional fee-for-service system. These alternative payment models continue a history of bipartisan work by shifting away from fee-for-service and toward a more efficient system of care.

Study: Real-time electronic symptom reporting helps cancer patients live longer

Ten groups, including the American Medical Association, the Medical Group Management Association and the American College of Surgeons, sent a letter to CMS Administrator Seema Verma requesting that Medicare Advantage be treated as an alternative payment model (APM) under MACRA starting in 2019.
