In the latest setback for the initiative, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that all deployments in its EHR Modernization effort will be halted while it prioritizes improvements at the five sites that currently use the new EHR, as part of a larger program reset.

The healthcare sector has been notoriously slow to adopt new technologies in the past, but Chat-GPT has already begun to enter the field. Technology experts at the HIMSS conference in Chicago said that while the AI model is certainly exciting, the healthcare sector must establish an accountability framework for moving forward.

The Expanding Care in the Home Act sponsored by Reps. Adrian Smith, R-Nebraska, and Debbie Dingell, D-Michigan, would expand access to and reimbursement for various home care services delivered to Medicare beneficiaries. 

Hospitals are curbing non-essential expenses in today’s tricky operational environment, but they’re still looking to invest — just with more due diligence and in companies that can immediately save money or add revenue, executives said at the annual HIMSS conference in Chicago.
